Mr. R Arunachalam has a diverse educational background, extensive industry experience spanning over 30+ years, and a strong regulatory and professional connect bringing a wealth of expertise in the financial services industry.

Holding a degree in Mathematics and being a Fellow Member of the Institute of Actuaries of India, Insurance Institute of India, and Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India, his journey has encompassed governance and leadership roles, in company boards, corporate settings and consulting projects, involving actuarial science, investments, risk management, insurance, pensions, and employee benefits. His functional expertise includes Marketing, Business Development, Product Development, Operations, Underwriting, Human Resources, Finance, Investments, Risk Management & Information Technology.

He is currently serving as an Independent Director on the Board of India First Life Insurance Company Limited.  Recently, during 2022-2024, he was honored to serve as the President of the Council of Institute of Actuaries of India.  He is also an advisor and on the Editorial Board of a boutique company specializing in ECL, Fair Value, ICAAP, Hedge & Lease Accounting.

He has served on various committees and advisory boards, including those established by the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI), Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).
