Dr. Ruchita Verma is the Executive Director of the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI). In this role, she provides strategic and operational leadership, working closely with the President, Council Members, and advisory committees to strengthen governance, enhance member engagement, advance research, and expand national and international collaborations. She also steers flagship initiatives such as the Global Conference of Actuaries (GCA), reinforcing IAI’s institutional visibility and professional impact.​

With over three decades of leadership experience across higher education, professional institutions, and the service industry, Dr. Verma brings a strong blend of academic depth, corporate insight, and institutional strategy. She has led transformation initiatives, scaled academic institutions, built high-performing teams, and delivered measurable organisational outcomes.​

She has conceptualised and launched contemporary undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in disciplines including International Business, Corporate and Business Communication, Business Ethics, Retail Management, and Services Management (Travel & Tourism and Hospitality). Her academic leadership focuses on aligning curricula with global industry requirements, strengthening employability, and building sustainable academia–industry partnerships. Dr. Verma has forged strategic collaborations with reputed international universities, engaging with senior academic leaders to develop joint initiatives, conferences, and cross-border exchange platforms—positioning Indian institutions within the global higher education landscape. Beyond academia, she has partnered with corporates across the service industry to design and deliver structured training and executive development programmes, including leadership capability frameworks, service excellence initiatives, and strategic alignment workshops.​

​As a Campus Director and senior institutional leader, she has demonstrated measurable impact. During her tenure at Pearl Academy, she led the campus to achieve Great Place to Work certification and improved the Net Promoter Score (NPS) from 6 to 33. Across institutions she has led, she has maintained minimal attrition, reflecting her people-centric leadership and focus on building stable, high-performing teams.​

Known for her structured governance approach and strategic clarity, she has deep expertise in institutional planning, accreditation, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and large-scale programme execution. At IAI, her focus remains on strengthening research and thought leadership, expanding outreach, enhancing member services, deepening industry linkages, and positioning the actuarial profession as a key contributor to India’s long-term development.​

She holds a doctoral qualification and is widely recognised for her contributions to education leadership and institutional transformation. A strong advocate of ethical leadership, inclusive growth, and lifelong learning, she enjoys reading, travel, yoga, walking, and culinary exploration.​
