About Me

An ardent wordsmith and eloquent orator with a deep commitment to societal development, CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, FCA, was elected as the 73rd President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the term 2025–26. A distinguished Fellow Member and practicing Chartered Accountant for over 34 years (since 1991), he demonstrated exceptional academic excellence—graduating from M.L.N. College in 1987 with consistent merit positions at Kurukshetra University and securing 35th rank in CA Inter before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1991.​

He served as a Member of the Northern India Regional Council (1998–2004) and was elected Chairman of NIRC (2002–03). Elected to the Central Council in 2004, he completed seven terms, serving as Vice President in 2024–25 before assuming office as President in 2025–26.​

During his tenure, he chaired several key committees and led significant initiatives. Notably, under his leadership of the Digital Accounting and Assurance Board, ICAI issued the Forensic Accounting and Investigation Standards (FAIS)—making it the first accounting body globally to introduce such standards. As Vice President, he represented ICAI on key regulatory platforms including IRDAI’s Standing Committee on Accounting Issues, the Committee on Corporate Governance Guidelines for Insurers, and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs’ STRI Dedicated Cell, among others.​

As President, he served as the Chairman of all Standing Committees (Executive, Finance, Disciplinary, and Examination), Ex-officio Member of all Non-Standing Committees, and Editor-in-Chief of The Chartered Accountant Journal. He also chaired ICAI ARF, XBRL India, and welfare funds including CABF, CASBF, and S. Vaidyanath Aiyar Memorial Fund, and serves on the boards of ISAI, ICAI RVO, and IIIPI.​

Contributing to national development, he supported the Government and regulators as a Member of the IRDAI Board, SEBI’s PMAC, and other advisory and expert committees, including the National Risk Assessment 2025 Working Group. Internationally, he represented India as a Board Member of SAFA and at forums of PAFA and AFA, reinforcing India’s position as a Global Accounting Hub. Known for his strategic vision, leadership acumen, and compassionate approach, CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda is widely respected across the CA fraternity for both his professional excellence and his unwavering commitment to the profession.​
